PAS CMM is a comprehensive MBI (Model Based Inspection) Lifecycle Management Suite™

The PAS CMM is a Model Base Inspection Lifecycle Management (ILM) Suite automates the entire inspection process, eliminates the need for data translation throughout the inspection process, creating seamless integration between design, manufacturing, and CMM inspection. PAS CMM generates a complete optimized probe path automatically based on a CAD model and associated GD&T's (Annotations, Dimensions and 3D Feature Parameters) and collision free.

Using the PAS ILM Suite, users can generate inspection plans directly on-model and output automatically inspection results to FAI\PPAP compliant or other standards. Providing users with visual inspection results, the software enables interactive analysis at every step of the inspection process.

PAS CMM is a QIF (Quality Information Framework) Standard

PAS CMM is fully compliant with the Quality Information Framework (QIF) standard. QIF is an American National Standard supporting Digital Thread concepts in engineering application ranging from product design through manufacturing to quality inspection. Based on XML standard, in contains a Library of XML schema ensuring both data integrity and data interoperability in Model base Enterprise quality processes.

First Click

Automatic feature extraction from 3D model is applied. Features such as planes, holes, slots, rounds and chamfers are identified and assigned to inspection directions (probe orientation is calculated automatically for each feature). List of the probe directions is displayed in the form of a tree view, where each branch represents a direction. The branches are further expandable to sub-groups by feature type. PAS CMM provides powerful filtering, selection and grouping tools. This allows user quickly identify and sort out the geometry that should and should not be inspected.

Second Click

The user defines inspection requirements for the part either by setting the inspection parameters (number of touch points, location, tolerances etc.) or by entering dimensions and geometric tolerances. Inspection parameters can be set for a whole part, branch, group, specific feature or any combination thereof. This allows applying tolerances to the whole model in an extremely fast manner.

Third Click

A probe path is generated. PAS CMM analyzes the model and automatically creates probe points including approach, retract, clearances, “air movements”, head rotations, etc. Probe points are placed on each feature according to the specified parameters set in the process (number of points, location, tolerance, etc.). All movements are automatically checked for collision, taking into account the probe geometry, part and fixture (if any). All probe movements are automatically optimized to minimize time needed for inspection.


An inspection (DMIS) program is automatically created and constantly updated after every change done by the user. Different automatic alignment and re-alignment options are available. The user can set an unlimited number of local or incremental alignments. All GD&T requirements defined in PAS CMM are written into DMIS program hence the Inspection Report is generated by your original metrology software as usual. DMIS program can be “posted” to different machines and metrology environments. This provides the ultimate flexibility to multi-machine facilities.
